This is a contract to hire position in Raleigh, NC.
Keyword: Cobol or CICS or DB2 or SQL or.net Cobol CICS, DB2, SQL, Conversion of Visual Age Generator to CICS and web apps so some exposure to .net a huge plus.
Billing systems for the Premimum Management Team, good analytical and communication skills.
Team environment
Work in this category involves both Systems Analysis and Programming.
Systems Analysis work consists of analyzing and designing systems and modifications to existing systems.
Programming work consists of reviewing programs, writing one-time programs needed to test and implement a system, and making program modifications as required.
Individual will work under the direction of the Information Systems Applications Supervisor.
They will support other areas such as the Client Information System which may include the conversion from the VA/GEN programming language to core IS technologies, specifically CICS Cobol.
SPECIAL TRAINING, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
MAJOR DUTIES OF POSITION:
Interview users.
Analyze and design systems.
Analyze and implement modifications to systems.
Write program specifications.
Prepare test data.
Review and approve test results.
Research problems.
Documentation of systems and creation of system manuals.
Direct and assist other programmers and analysts.
Make program modifications when appropriate.
Follow project management guidelines as outlined in the NCFB Project Workflow Guidelines.
Provide on-call support on a scheduled basis.

Skills/Requirements:
Four-year degree and four to five years programming experience. OR Two-year degree in Data Processing and six years experience in Information Systems including four to five years in programming. OR High school diploma and eight years experience in Information Systems including four to five years in programming. OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with COBOL and CICS COBOL programming languages, a report generator, structured techniques, JCL, uses of the Operating System, program debugging aids, and utilities is desired.
Experience with DB2 and SQL is strongly desired.
Knowledge of distributed architecture design will be an asset to the position, as will exposure or experience in object-oriented analysis and design and the JAVA or .NET programming platforms.
General knowledge of insurance applications.
General knowledge of insurance applications.
Ability to plan and use time wisely.
Ability to communicate effectively – both verbally and written.
Ability to work in a cohesive team environment.
