Description: Our client is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Java/J2EE) in Herndon, VA. The Integration and Test (I&T) team requires a software engineer specializing in software integration. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, systems engineers, test engineers, program managers, and end-users to ensure products meet requirements and are delivered in a timely manner. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Requirements: Previous experience working on Java-based applications in multi-tiered architectures is required. In addition, hands-on experience with open-source tools like Maven 2, Hudson, Cruise Control, and Subversion as well as test tools like JUnit, Clover, and Selenium is highly desired. Experience with COTS software, including Tomcat, Apache ServiceMix, Oracle 10g, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or Cent OS Linux is a plus. The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include:
Skills/Requirements:
Java development in a UNIX/Linux environment
Demonstrated experience performing software integration
Hands-on experience with open-source tools like Maven, Hudson, Cruise Control, and Subversion
Solid written and oral communications skills and a demonstrated ability to work one-on-one with customer and end users
Demonstrated time management, prioritization, and task management skills
An ability to report accomplishments, issues or plans using email, standard Microsoft Office Tools, including MS Project
The successful candidate will have an overlapping mixture of the skills listed below, although not all skill sets are required: Software Development Skills:
Installing, deploying and operating Java-based software
Experience with Object-Oriented Design concepts
Experience tuning and operating a Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
Familiarity with Agile project management and software development methodologies
Experience deploying developed code using Subversion
Experience working with XML
Working in a Scrum environment
Database Skills: Experience with an XML Content Management System such as eXist or MarkLogic
Experience with SQL
