Systems Administrator
The key distinction (for this Systems Administrator position) is that I’m looking for a person to provide systems administration support to a group of software developers, which is quite different from the kind of support provided by a typical IT support group to a general population of non-technical users: Administer the tools and server platforms needed to develop, build, test, and deploy browser-independent web applications and web sites in a multi-platform health care technology environment. Expertise in the administration Java-based software development tools, application servers, web servers with detailed understanding of the underlying server, storage, and networking infrastructure.
Ability to develop automation scripts in various languages. Act as a liaison between the application development group and the other system administration functional groups we depend on (for database administration, server/desktop administration, and network administration) to ensure high availability of the production environment. Develop and use production system management tools for application deployment and monitoring. Install and administer all software development tools, and collaborate with developers and QA specialists in the development of automated builds & tests, a continuous integration system, and a production deployment system.
